FPBJJO OPEN RESULTS
The tournament went well. It was the biggest one on the island of Okinawa. TEAM CHOCO Okinawa brought thier A-Game! The team like normal was one of the smallest teams to show up to the event. That did not intemidate this team at all. We took the podium in every weight class we intered but one. The tournamnet was comprized of three sections. Kids, adults with gi to include the absolute, and no gi to include absolute. After a long day of fighting we walked away with 9 medals and one Team Trophy. Every one from Team Choco did extremley well.
We had some honorable mentions they are Bryan "The So Cal Kid" Nguyen. He took second in his division, but his day came in the No Gi absolute where fighting bigger Judo Black Belt he jumped on to his back and chocked him out with a standing Rear Nacked Choke. That was pretty bad ass! The next is Derrick "Bison" Adams he showed pure dominance submitting every fighter that steped onto the mat with him. That even included team mate Jordan "Ox" Hackworth in the finals. GREAT JOB GUYS!!

WHAT IS A CHOCO?
CHOCO
Language: Spanish
Translation: Giant Squid
Up to the middle of the 19th century, the giant squid was a sea monster from ancient legends, about which science only knew what tales sailors and fishermen told. Olaus Magnus in the 16th century, Egede and Pontoppidan in the 18th century, had described the kraken. Giant squids are cephalopods (Cephalopoda). They have ten arms altogether, of which two long tentacles with club-like broadened ends armed with suckers to catch the prey. Eight short arms around the mouth then guide the prey to the mouth. There a horn beak cuts the prey in small pieces that are then further ground by the radula. The Giant Squid protects itself from its larger attacker the sperm whale by holding on tight and attacking with the broadened club-like long tentacles often leaving its attacker scared and mangled for life.
WHAT IS JIU-JITSU
Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint-locks and chokeholds to force an opponent to submit. The system developed from a modified version of pre-World War II Judo including some techniques from Japanese Jujutsu and with a focus on ne-waza (ground technique). It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using leverage and proper technique can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant. BJJ can be trained for self defense, sport grappling tournaments (Gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition. Sparring (commonly referred to as 'rolling') and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition.
